Mission Statement: The mission of the New York City Chapter of the Association for Psychological Type (APT NYC) is to provide education, development and advocacy for practitioners of and those with a strong interest in MBTI.® We are a primary resource for the Type community in the New York Metropolitan area and we create opportunities for networking, collaboration, and inspiration for Type enthusiasts at all levels.

Camille Rinato
's (Type INTJ) professional experience in financial services and non-profit organizations in New York, Zurich, and Singapore centers on business analysis, communications, and change. Her education and qualifications include a Masters in Business from NYU, an M.A. in Psychology, as well as certifications for MBTI®, mediation and project management. Serving APT NY Metro as VP Communications for 2009-2010 was a rewarding experience for her. "It has been an opportunity to work with wonderful people and to learn about and contribute to our chapter. I am seeking the opportunity to serve APT NY Metro again, through the position of board President 2010-2011, to work with our chapter to achieve its goals and to explore and implement new ways to add to the value and enjoyment of membership."


Kathleen Murphy (Type ESFJ)
has a B.S. in Accounting and has been responsible for budgets and variance reports for over 20 years as a Property Manager. In addition to her role as a Property manager, she is currently an adjunct professor at New York University (NYU). Certified in the MBTI®, she earned her Coaching Certification from NYU, her ACC accreditation from ICF, and helps people to cross the bridge towards their dream career. Kathleen served on the APT NY Metro 2009-2010 Chapter Board of Directors as Treasurer. She has also served as a Treasurer several times for a local community association as well as the Parents Association in her children's school. She is excited about participating in APT NY Metro and the opportunity to make a difference.

Len Gomberg (Type INFJ) is a member of the American Counseling Association, the National Career Development Association, and the Career Planning and Adult Development Network. He has participated in community service projects and leadership positions within the American Society for Training and Development, where he was in charge of the Entrepreneurship Special Interest Group. His experience also includes community service with the Project Hired organization and participating on the planning team for the California Career Development Association conference. He served 4 years as a role model with the Santa Clara County Role Model Program and one year as Vice President of Education at Toastmasters. He is pleased to be part of APT NY Metro and would like to contribute to the chapter's continuing development. Len has been a professional educator at the community college level and is currently an Education Counselor for West Point's Wounded Warrior population. As an INFJ, he is enthralled with the possibilities the MBTI® offers and would like to work on ideas such as continuing education credit for chapter program activities.


Tanya Straker (Type INTP) is a Type Enthusiast and President of the Y Consulting Group, an organization that provides leadership and communication seminars to mid-size companies, non-profits, and community organizations. For over 15 years as an organization development practitioner in mission driven environments, she has dedicated the use of her skills to helping those who help others. Ms. Straker holds a Master's Degree in Human Resource Development from American University and a Certificate in Organization Development from  the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland. She is a past board member of the Organization Development Network of New York and sits on the Executive Committee of the National Sales Network.


C. Roy Argall
(Type ENTJ) owned and operated the 2nd largest residential property fee management company in Pittsburgh for 25 years. He moved to New York City where he engaged in residential real estate brokerage and also taught real estate. His experience includes serving as the Director of Education for the largest real estate school in the US. In that role he wrote and published over 30 real estate text books; hired, trained and supervised hundreds of instructors who taught over 200,000 students to pass various real estate and appraisal state licensing tests. He later turned to coaching and is certified by The Coaches Training Institute, CTI. His advanced training includes ontological work offered by the Newfield Network and somatic work through the Strozzi Institute. For the last 7 years, his coaching speciality has been helping entrepreneurs quiet the voices in their heads so they can be authentically present, live in the now and prosper. He likes to think of himself as having the entrepreneurial curse with the desire to market everything from that profit driven point of view!


Juanita Davies (Type       ) is the president of J. Davies & Associates, a Professional Development Corporation. With over 20 years of experience working with Fortune 500 companies throughout the U.S., she provides training and coaching that helps clients sharpen their interpersonal skills in areas like Teamwork, Effective Presentations and Communication. In 2009, she also began working with school systems to help them maximize student learning through a collaborative approach to instruction using Professional Learning Communities. She served on the APT NY Metro Executive Board in 2007-2010 and started the chapter's first e-newsletter. Juanita is a recognized MBTI® practitioner and her professional memberships include the American Management Association, the American Society for Training and Development, the National Association of Women Business Owners and the New York Association for Women in Administration.


Bruce Cohen
J.D., (Type       ) is a counselor, educator and lawyer. He is President of Embervision, a company assisting in the professional, academic, and personal development of individuals and organizations in all fields. He has advised and coached people from across the U.S. and throughout the world. He has served as a dean for International Legal Studies and the Graduate Program at Harvard Law School and is a graduate of the University of Southern California and Harvard Law School. Bruce served on the APT NY Metro 2009-2010 Chapter Board of Directors as Co-VP Events

Board Member Bios

Pamela Judd (Type INFJ) is the founder of Make Me Proud of You, Inc. whose mission is to help Entrepreneurs to transform the way they communicate, network and make a difference in the world. She teaches Human Relations and Career Development at Lehman College, has a passion for Social Entrepreneurship, and is certified in the MBTI®. Her most requested topics include Career Chutzpah for Entrepreneurs, Speaking and Networking with Style, Type® for Entrepreneurs, The Civility Zone, Generational Intelligence, and Career Training Wheels. Giving back to her community is an imperative. As the Philanthropic Chair for www.aici.org, Pamela is proud to be a leader in their Civility Counts Project and the launch of International Civility Month in May 2010. She is active in HR/NY and is a 20 year member of www.toastmasters.org where she served on their International Board of Directors. She credits Myers-Briggs® with helping her to find her purpose and Toastmasters for giving her the courage to say it out loud.

Jane Maloney, MA (Columbia University, Organizational Psychology) is President of Interaction, Inc. She gives organizations the management, leadership, teaming and communication skills they need to achieve optimal results. Over the last 20 years she has focused 80% of her time on serving Fortune 500 companies and 20% serving non-profit organizations. Jane frequently uses the MBTI® in her assignments.

Mark Applewhite, a qualified MBTI® user, is a graduate of Union Theological Seminary across from Riverside Church where he was Ordained Oct. 18, 1987. As an LCSW-R he focuses on individual and social typology for transformational change on Long Island, NY. In fall 2009 Mark will publish a children's book on the Amistad slave ship, which is the basis for Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation.





Bruce Cohen
J.D., Harvard Law School, A.B., University of Southern California. Counselor, educator, lawyer. Mr. Cohen is President of EMBERVISION®, a New York City-based company that advances the professional, organizational, academic, and personal development of individuals from business, law, psychology, academia, the sciences, the media, and the arts. For over twenty-five years, Mr. Cohen has advised and guided a wide range of people from across the U.S. and throughout the world. He is a trained mediator and has lectured widely. He served as a dean for international legal studies and the graduate program at Harvard Law School and also as a dean for student affairs and international programs at the Touro Law Center, where he played a central role in the school's early development. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the International Center for Integrative Studies (ICIS), an NGO, and serves as its lead delegate to the United Nations.


Juanita Davies

Jodi Garner
received an M.B.A in Finance from Columbia Business School and a B.A. in Economics from the State University of New York at Albany. Jodi is a certified executive coach (i-Coach) and qualified to administer the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. She is a Board Member of the New York Association for Psychological Type as well as Intelligent Video Solutions, Inc. and serves on the development committee for the Athena Collaborative Group, a non-profit organization aimed at expanding the population of women entering and thriving in quantitative roles in competitive industries.

Bonnie Halpern
, MBA (Columbia University, Graduate School of Business) is a Marketing Consultant and an MBTI® trainer. Her course on “Introducing the MBTI®” focuses on how different types function in the corporate world as individuals and as members of a team. Having spent 15+ years as a Marketing VP at Citigroup and MasterCard and several years as a consultant at American Express, she brings a wealth of experience to the corporate classroom.

 


Lee McDonald
is an independent consultant who specializes in one to one coaching and group facilitation in traditional areas of business such as banking, law and insurance. She uses a combination of MBTI® and DiSC to help her clients improve their leadership skills, sales techniques and customer services.

Kathleen Murphy has been a career coach since 2006 after 25 years managing people in the commercial property management industry. She is a member of the International Coach Federation, as well as a qualified user of the MBTI® and The Strong Interest Inventory. Kathleen works with her clients to gain clarity on their goals and then take the steps to achieve them. She is a member of Toastmaster’s International and conducts workshop on change – “Crossing the Bridge” to your goals.

Camille Rinato
holds MBA and BS degrees in business and an MA in Psychology. Her work in Financial Services and not-for-profit organizations (in the US, Europe, and Asia) centers on business process and organizational change.
