"No book that makes an essentially new contribution to knowledge enjoys the privilege of being thoroughly understood."  C.J. Jung wrote that stinging statement in a forward to the Argentine edition of Psychological Types, thirteen years after the book first appeared. 

What Jung wanted was for us to understand how he weaved together his knowledge of a person's typology and his understanding of what was NOT type-related about their personality. 

In this talk we will explore the interplay between type and individuality, using business situations, dreams, and fantasies as our examples.  Our goal will be to reach a practical understanding of how to work in a new way with types.

Speaker Biographical Information

David Rottman is President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the C.G. Jung Foundation of New York and a member of the Jung Foundation's Continuing Education faculty.  He is Senior Faculty Member of the Archetypal Pattern Analyst Training Program of the Assisi Institute of Vermont.

His seminars on psychology and human motivation have received wide acclaim in the United States and Canada. Mr. Rottman is a past president of the Career Counselors Consortium (CCC), an organization he founded in 1997 for the purpose of bringing the work of career counselors to the public.  The CCC's award for Distinguished Achievement in the field of Career Counseling has been named the "David Rottman Award."

Mr. Rottman served on the charter Board of Directors of the Association of Career Professionals International (formerly the International Association of Career Management Professionals), a 1500-member organization that he was also instrumental in founding.  He has supervised and trained many of the leading career counselors and career coaches in the New York Metropolitan area.

Mr. Rottman has a Master's in Applied Psychology from New York University.  His wife, Hannah, is executive director of the Palms for Life Fund, a global alliance to end hunger and poverty. They reside in New York City.

A former brand marketing executive, Shenker's 30-year career has included positions at MasterCard, Citibank, and Reed Exhibitions.

On Sept. 22nd, over 30 MBTI practitioners and enthusiasts gathered at Rosie O’Grady’s in midtown Manhattan to connect, re-connect and launch the 2009-2010 season for APT NYC. Attendees exchanged cards and information and, above all, had a great time.
